What is the Rising Sign (Ascendant)?
In Vedic astrology, the Rising Sign (or Lagna) is the zodiac sign that was ascending on the eastern horizon at the exact moment and location of your birth. It is considered the most personal point in your chart because it changes roughly every two hours, making an accurate birth time essential for its calculation.
While your Moon sign (Rashi) reflects your emotional inner world, the Ascendant governs your outward personality, physical appearance, and the way others perceive you. It determines the layout of all twelve houses in your chart, making it the foundation upon which the entire horoscope is built.
