What is Sade Sati?
Sade Sati (literally “seven and a half”) refers to the approximately 7.5-year period during which Saturn transits through the 12th, 1st, and 2nd houses from your natal Moon sign. Since Saturn takes about 2.5 years to cross each sign, the entire transit spans three signs and roughly seven and a half years. In Vedic astrology, this period is considered one of the most significant Saturn transits.
The transit occurs in three phases. The Rising Phase begins when Saturn enters the sign before your Moon sign (12th house), often bringing subtle challenges related to expenses and sleep. The Peak Phase arrives when Saturn transits directly over your Moon sign, which is typically the most intense period, affecting emotions, mental peace, and personal life. The Setting Phase occurs as Saturn moves into the sign after your Moon sign (2nd house), gradually easing its influence while affecting finances and family matters.
Everyone experiences Sade Sati two to three times in their lifetime. While it is often feared, it is not inherently negative — Saturn rewards discipline, hard work, and patience. The actual impact depends on Saturn's placement, aspects, and strength in your natal chart.
